Mellow mango smoothie

I simply love mango. When in season it is hard to match for flavour and enjoyment. I remember many years ago, when I was sole flight attendant on a private jet, spending several weeks in Australia in November, mango season. My flight deck crew and myself bought them by the crate from the fish market in Sydney and to this day I can remember the experience of sitting by the harbour in the sun, and literally devouring the juiciest of fruits, with juice running down my arms and a massive smile on my face.

I didn't know then about the nutritional profile, but how could something that good not be doing you good?

They are an excellent source of beta carotenes, the pre cursor to Vitamin A, Vitamin C, copper, B Vitamins, potassium, magnesium, Vitamin E and fibre. They are also a great source of digestive enzymes similar to papain in papaya, such as magneferin.

Mangoes have so many health benefits and can be helpful in muscle cramps, stress and heart problems because of the electrolyte content. Plus the high anti-oxidant content may have anti-cancer benefits.

Blend together:

A handful of chopped mango, I used frozen

A handful of cauliflower rice, frozen

Half a small sweet melon

A Tablespoon of turmeric powder

Pinch of black pepper

A serving of collagen powder

Activated almond milk, or liquid of choice.
